The microphone is used to listen to voice commands so you can say an animal name instead of typing. Your voice is processed on your device and is never recorded or sent anywhere.
Yes! All bundled animal sounds work without an internet connection. The optional AI feature also runs entirely on your device. An internet connection is only needed to download additional sounds from the Sound Box.
Critter Caller is designed for children ages 3-6, but kids (and adults!) of all ages can enjoy it.
Make sure you've granted microphone and speech recognition permissions in your device settings. Try speaking clearly and close to the device. You can also check that your device isn't muted.
Go to Settings (gear icon) and tap "Add Sound", or open the Sound Box and tap the "+" button. You can record your own sounds and give them a name!
When enabled in Settings, a small AI model runs on your device to better understand natural speech. It helps when you say things like "I wanna hear a lion roar" instead of just "lion". The AI runs completely offline and does not send any data to external servers.
